Seah Im Food Centre History
Seah Im Food Centre is in Telok Blangah Singapore. It’s been around since the 1980s. It’s named after Seah Im Road, which is nearby. This road was made by a wealthy businessman named Ang Seah Im. The food centre was started in 1984 by the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). Later, it was managed by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). Over the years, the area around the food centre has changed a lot. At first, there was just a bus stop and a Malay village. There are significant buildings like the World Trade Centre and Harbourfront Centre. Seah Im Food Centre was closed for six months in 2022 for improvements. It reopened in March 2023 with new stuff like toilets, tables, and fans.
Even though fancier food places are nearby, Seah Im Food Centre is still famous. People like it because it’s cheap and tasty. It shows how vital hawker culture is in Singapore.
